Among approximately 62 community forests in BC doing exceptional work to make communities and forests socially, ecologically, and economically resilient, we were honoured to be recognized with this meaningful award from the Ministry of Forests and our peers on May 27th during the annual BC Community Forest Association conference.

This award was established in 2016, recently enough that many people still working in community forestry and at the BC Ministry of Forests knew its namesake, the late Robin Hood. Robin is widely admired as having been a passionate and principled advocate for community forestry—someone who believed deeply in the power of local stewardship, long-term thinking, and the connection between healthy forests and healthy communities. He was known for his integrity, humility, and quiet leadership, always ready to offer thoughtful guidance or a steady hand in challenging conversations. Colleagues and collaborators remember him not only for his technical expertise, but also for his generosity of spirit, unwavering commitment to public service, and deep respect for the land and those who depend on it.
We endeavour to further community-led forest stewardship every day, guided by the values of the community forest program as prioritized by our unique community. Our success is shared with an incredibly hardworking team which includes many volunteers who give generously of their time and expertise to put the community in our community forest.
