Mayor Siegers and Community Forest President and Chair Geoff Craig presented a retirement gift to Dave Lasser the afternoon of December 14th at the District of Sechelt hall in recognition of his professional dedication to the Community Forest for 9 years – a piece by local wood artist Patrick Skidd whose work Dave has admired at WoodExpo over the years.
With 46 years of forestry experience, Dave’s competent stewardship of our Community Forest has allowed us to provide $2,477,000 to the District of Sechelt’s Sunshine Coast Community Forest Legacy Fund. During his time with us he has also been a valuable resource to many people and organizations in the community, providing guidance, expertise, and information resources behind the scenes. He will be greatly missed when he leaves us at the end of this year.
Warren Hansen will assume the role of Operations Manager in the new year under a contract with Chartwell Consultants Ltd. Warren has been providing engineering and other services to SCCF since our first tree was harvested. He knows our tenure area and forestry issues well and is eager to take on this new role.
