Thanks to Connie Jordison at the Coast Reporter for writing a great article about our summer student Michelle Wells! She's doing a fantastic job and we're proud to have her working with us.
We had talked about having a forestry student before but felt we had too much in the works to be able to start it this year. Then, Michelle Wells contacted us looking for an opportunity to work as a summer student in the Community Forest in her hometown after completing a year of forestry studies at BCIT. How could we say no?
We just received a message from one of our regular firewood permit holders Tom Friesen saying:
I met the wonderful young student that's working with you. She has my respect and admiration. She took a look at my permit, and had a quick discussion with me on the challenges of looking after our forests. Please give her a chance to make a living here where she grew up!
