The establishment of the Provincial Forest Advisory Council is a result of an agreement between the BC NDP and BC Green parties. The council is tasked with forming clear and measurable outcomes to implement the Old Growth Action Plan in a way which is aligned with DRIPA, considers community perspectives, and builds a foundation for an ecologically and economically sustainable forest sector. When this council was launched in May 2025, we saw the people appointed to the Council and knew that the Ministry of Forests was serious about transforming the sector - among those people, Laurie Kremsater, who has been supporting our Ecosystem Based Management planning for years. Those who have met Laurie through her work with the Sunshine Coast Community Forest will know her to be sincere and principled in the application of her wealth of knowledge and experience in BC forest ecosystems.

The Council has a new website launched earlier this month where you can learn about the council and their work to chart a path transitioning to a new demonstrably sustainable forestry model in BC. The general public is invited to share their perspectives through a survey with targeted questions. We know communities on the Sunshine Coast are passionate about forests, and encourage those who identify with this statement to learn about the council's meaningful work and participate in the survey. Learn more and take the survey at www.pfac.ca .
